Elizabeth Ross’s poem, “Find” (published in her 2015 collection, Kingdom), was featured in Brick Books’ Celebration of Canadian Poetry series earlier this week. Christopher Evans praised many technical aspects of “Find”; he went on to write:

Another aspect that pulls me into the poem is the levels of unknown. The reader doesn’t know what draws the brother’s attention to the knife or where the knife came from. It suggests that the knife is blood-stained, but does that mean the blade or the handle? Does the stain remain after it’s been washed? Is it the family’s financial situation that makes them keep the knife? These questions remain unanswered, which helps to maintain the tension of the piece.
