We’re thrilled to announce that two Palimpsest authors have been nominated for awards!
Major congratulations are in order for Julie Cameron Gray, author of Lady Crawford, which has been nominated for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award. And John Nyman, author of Players, has been nominated for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award.
Both Players and Lady Crawford were featured recently on All Lit Up:
“Between imperial dinners and managing investments, Lady Crawford offers a rare glimpse of the inner-life of a woman who has married into a royal lineage. Chronicled in a series of metamorphic poems, Julie Cameron Gray reports from a world filled with parties and art before revealing the cost of an identity shed, as so many married women before her. Heartbreaking, drunken, and lavish, Lady Crawford is a powerful second collection from one of Canada’s finest poets.”
“John Nyman’s Players is staged in an urban dreamscape, fusing popular culture with narratives about hand-to-hand combat, how to hustle, and high art. Taking lyrical cues from hip-hop, Nyman’s poetry bends genre expectations, unravelling with a flow that’s both unique and engaging.”
